Dreamforce: CipherCloud Data Discovery on AppExchange

Salesforce.com's (CRM) Dreamforce conference kicked off yesterday with several different announcements, including the launch of a new data discovery and monitoring tool on AppExchange. CipherCloud, which specializes in cloud information protection offerings, launched the new offering as an extension of its platform to provide customers with additional visibility and control of their data within the Salesforce.com platform.

The CipherCloud offering is now available for test drive and deployment on AppExchange. A few of the key features in the solution include:

  • Enhanced intelligence into and control over information shared on the Salesforce.com cloud.

  • Data discovery checks log files against defined data loss prevention policies to discover violations at the data level.

  • User activity monitoring that continuously tracks and analyzes usage and behavior patterns.

  • Anomaly detection reports potential abuse and misuse of access to protected data.

As Pravin Kothari, founder and CEO of CipherCloud, noted in a prepared statement, this is the first product for the Salesforce.com community the cloud security vendor has released since it formalized its ISV partnership with Salesforce.com in October.

"We continue to strengthen our Salesforce.com collaboration, which was built on delivering innovative cloud encryption and tokenization on AppExchange," Kothari said. "Today's announcement reinforces our commitment to enable Salesforce users to proactively defend their intellectual property, personally identifiable information and other forms of sensitive data from a broad range of security and compliance risks."
