CSC Adds Workload Protection to Cloud Security Services

CSC, an IT services and solutions provider, launched a pay-as-you-go cloud security services solution called On-Demand Workload Protection to allow clients to scale their cloud workload security as needed.

The service, which was developed in partnership with CloudPassage, was designed to allow customers to utilize protection and security services in the same vein as public cloud computing services, according to CSC. The company expects the service to meet growing demand for more flexible, consumption-based security models that customers are already accustomed to.

Instead of having to combine different solutions into a single offering, CSC is looking to provide customers with a one-stop shop for all of their security needs. The offering deploys CloudPassage Halo agents on every server instance to automatically monitor server activity via CSC’s Pulse portal.

This centralized solution is expected to lessen the burden on customers to maintain dedicated security operations centers or hire managed security services providers to handle the burden for them, according to Ashish Mahadwar, executive vice president and general manager of CSC Emerging Business Group.

“CSC’s On-Demand Workload Protection offers an affordable pay-as-you-consume alternative that gives an enterprise clear visibility into all of its traditional and next-generation platforms and workloads,” he said in a statement. “Eliminating the need for dedicated staff to manage and monitor multiple security services internally also frees up resources that can be invested elsewhere in the business.”

The launch of CSC’s On-Demand Workload Protection platform comes just weeks after CloudPassage updated the Halo Security Platform with new capabilities, including an improved user interface and data aggregation capabilities.
