Silver Peak‘s new president of global field operations will oversee its indirect sales efforts and help the company scale.

Ian Whiting, a longtime networking veteran, will develop the SD-WAN provider’s go-to-market strategy and “broaden partner engagement and increase the velocity of new customer acquisition.” Whiting said he is excited to join the quickly evolving SD-WAN market.

“Having an industry-leading product that meets and, in many cases exceeds market expectations, provides us with a strong foundation to accelerate and scale out our go-to-market activities with a balance of direct end-customer engagements and an unwavering commitment to our global channel and service-provider partners,” Whiting said. “Strategic partnerships are critical to our success and only by partnering with the best of the best will we fully capitalize on the enormous opportunity in front of us and assure our customer’s WAN transformation initiatives are successful.”

Whiting most recently served as president of Ruckus, which CommScope acquired last year. His other past employers include Brocade, where he worked as senior vice president of worldwide sales, and Riverbed, where he led Americas sales.

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in December.

He’ll report to Silver Peak Founder and CEO David Hughes. Hughes told Channel Partners more than 1,500 enterprise customers have deployed Silver Peak’s Unity EdgeConnect solution.

“… We must now shift our focus toward expanding our routes to market through our growing network of channel and service provider partners so that we can fully capitalize on the opportunity in front of us to lead the SD-WAN market forward,” Hughes said. “To be No. 1, we must move quickly and aggressively to seize the day. Seasoned leaders with proven track records like Ian will enable us to rapidly expand our go-to-market with channel and service-provider partners, scale our organization and continue to deliver the highest quality of experience to our customers, underscoring our unwavering commitment to winning in the market.”

Silver Peak shone brightly in the latest Gartner Wan Edge Infrastructure Magic Quadrant, which listed Silver Peak and VMware as the only two “Leaders.”

“While no one can match our top-down outcome-oriented approach to automation with Unity EdgeConnect, we must simultaneously focus our efforts toward scaling our ability to engage, enable and empower our sales teams and channels to bring the transformational value of our SD-WAN edge platform to the masses,” Hughes said. “Ian brings a unique combination of proven go-to-market expertise and success and a no-nonsense leadership style that we need to scale our go-to-market motions with partners and end customers to fully capitalize on the opportunity in front of us to lead the SD-WAN market.”
