Masergy unveiled several enhancements to its managed software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) offering.

The SD-WAN Go solution now has application routing, automatic path control and an embedded firewall and router. Masergy says the update helps customers use commodity internet bandwidth to decrease costs, and it speeds up deployment with same-day provisioning. The company also says its encrypted traffic ensures security.

“With these enhancements, SD-WAN Go is now solidified as the most cost-effective and feature-rich solution on the market for the vast majority of enterprise application environments,” Masergy CEO Chris MacFarland. “We’ve made it incredibly easy for CIOs and IT leaders to deploy customized hybrid SD-WANs that deliver optimal application performance. This will allow organizations of all sizes to operate more efficiently in today’s hyper-competitive global business climate.”

The Plano, Texas-based hybrid networking provider, has been making an SD-WAN play in the last two years. Masergy initially rolled out the managed SD-WAN service in May. The company framed it as a uniquely vendor-neutral solution with flexibility for pricing and connectivity. Masergy had been partnering with Silver Peak for a managed SD-WAN solution.

Now the provider says its offering has centralized policy management, self-provisioning, built-in firewall and unified threat management.

Masergy in October announced a worker productivity hub that ties together applications like Office 365, Salesforce and Google Suite, and it bundled the hub with its unified communications as a service (UCaaS) offering.
