RapidScale, the managed cloud provider, has a new vice president of marketing. He’s a familiar face – and voice – to anyone who’s worked with master-agent Intelisys over the past four years.

RapidScale’s Brian Leonard

Brian Leonard, who starts his new job on June 18, joins the RapidScale team after serving as director of marketing for Intelisys. While there, he hired and mentored employees responsible for a number of new programs and transformation initiatives. He also launched a successful podcast for the company.

“I’m also proud of my contribution to building the Intelisys brand and the value proposition that helped facilitate the Intelisys acquisition by ScanSource,” Leonard told Channel Partners. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to help build a foundation of the total technology solution for Intelisys sales partners.

Leonard’s background also includes another well-known channel role as co-owner and CEO of Mojo Marketing, an IT and channel-focused marketing firm.

At RapidScale, he’s tasked with building the company into a global brand and market leader in managed and hybrid managed cloud services; enabling partners to gain market position in selling and consulting such services; and strengthening every aspect of RapidScale’s marketing, advertising and public-relations strategy.

In his first few months at his new job, Leonard plans to take stock of partners’ needs and then “devise a plan to attack the market with the knowledge I gain.” He also will work closely with company employees to build upon RapidScale’s “already energetic company culture” and meet with partner- and client-experience managers to better understand customers.

Leonard says he was drawn to RapidScale for a number of reasons, including a high-quality team, technology, service infrastructure, leadership vision and reputation.

“Word of mouth means everything to me. So I spoke exhaustively to dozens of sales partners, solutions engineers and even leadership professionals at Intelisys,” Leonard told us. “The feedback was incredible. Everyone spoke highly of the explosive team and solutions RapidScale continues to offer and expand upon.”

Intelisys promoted Jess Maria to director of marketing in Leonard’s stead.

RapidScale’s Dylan Bouterse

Meantime, moving up the ladder at RapidScale is Dylan Bouterse, to director of solutions engineering. He’s responsible for leading the pre-sales engineers who are experts in the products and services the company sells. He also manages staffing, product and process development, and more.

Bouterse has more than 20 years of technology experience. He most recently was a senior solutions engineer. RapidScale says he frequently worked outside of his job description to assist in product development, marketing, product pricing and deal qualification. He’s been with the company for a year after coming over from Hosted Solutions/TierPoint.

“I’m excited and honored to have been chosen to lead and evolve the RapidScale solutions engineering team,” said Bouterse. “I feel my experience and passion for our customers, services and company give me the qualities RapidScale needs to continue to support an already fantastic team.”

Look for RapidScale to build its solutions engineering team to 10 members over the next year or so.
