Microsoft is preparing to launch Windows 7 on Oct. 22, but Lenovo is already unveiling tablet PCs and notebooks that take Windows 7’s multi-touch user interface in new directions. Lenovo’s effort includes a touch-based user interface called SimpleTap. Take a look.

The VAR Guy saw a SimpleTap demonstration in New York a few weeks ago. Our resident blogger was impressed. But seeing is believing. Here’s a demo:

This isn’t beta software, folks. Lenovo today introduced SimpleTap on the ThinkPad X200 Tablet PC ThinkPad T400s laptop.

For VARs and solutions providers, multi-touch user interfaces could generate new opportunities in such markets as insurance, health care and financial services, The VAR Guy has noted.
