BroadSoft (BSFT) is beefing up its hosted VoIP offerings with the acquisition of Leonid Systems, and according to the company, the buy will significant enhance its existing offerings.

Leonid is a provider of hosted VoIP OSS out of Virginia that has developed a purpose-built web portal for BroadWorks service provider customers that allows enterprise IT administrators and end-users to simplify the configuration and management of their BroadWorks-hosted unified communications services. BroadSoft, of course, is a provider of unified communications and VoIP products and services, so the acquisition of one of its partners will no doubt give it a powerful tool that many of its customers are already familiar with.

“BroadSoft recently unveiled a new corporate identity built around enhancing the user experience at each phase of the unified communications customer lifecycle — from upfront service messaging, to the sales and service implementation process, to service adoption and usage,” said Michael Tessler, CEO of BroadSoft, in a prepared statement. “As service providers increasingly demand a superior front-end UC services experience that is intuitive and modern, we recognized that Leonid had the expertise and experience to help BroadSoft better meet the evolving service delivery needs of our customers.”

The BroadWorks platform was designed with telecommunications service providers in mind. According to BroadSoft, the acquisition of Leonid Systems will delivery a superior user experience for those customers.

BroadSoft noted that the purchase is expected to add about $3 million in incremental revenue in 2015. But the real win is for customers, which BroadSoft expects will get an enhanced, non-disruptive end-user experience.
