An XO Communications (XO) study of business and IT decision-makers at 426 enterprise and small and medium-sized organizations revealed UC currently is helping many organizations become more productive and efficient. The study, titled "The State of Unified Communications," showed 87 percent of respondents said the benefits of UC met or exceeded their expectations.
Expect fifth-generation (5G) wireless system subscriptions to reach 150 million by 2021, according to Ericsson (ERIC). In its Nov. 2015 Mobility Report, Ericsson predicted 5G will become a popular choice for consumers over the next few years, particularly as the demand for Internet of Things (IoT) devices increases.
Vidyo has integrated its VidyoWorks video communication platform into the Mitel (MITL) MiCollab audio, web and video conferencing services portfolio. The Hackensack, New Jersey-based video conferencing and collaboration solutions provider has expanded its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with Mitel, allowing Mitel to leverage Vidyo's application programming interfaces (APIs) "to embed multi-point video, audio and collaboration features inside various Mitel solutions."
BlackBerry (BBRY) has unveiled a multi-operating system enterprise mobility management (EMM) software platform that supports Windows 10 devices. The wireless communications giant has updated its enterprise software platform, which now delivers "greater security, productivity and collaboration across iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10 and Windows 10."
ThinkingPhones has added a video conferencing company to its portfolio. The unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) provider has acquired Fuze for an undisclosed sum.
