SunGard Availability Services, which specializes in disaster recovery and managed IT services for enterprises, now supports virtualized platforms for its managed Oracle services.

Virtualized platforms let companies transition from capital-intensive, dedicated infrastructure to scalable, pay-as-you-go models. SunGard’s managed Oracle services run ERP applications and Oracle databases with pre-certified Oracle server and storage hardware and software, known as Oracle Red Stack.

To that end, SunGard’s services include technical support for managing the Oracle E-Business Suite application environment; personnel providing application, administration, database administration, infrastructure and functional support; and configurable infrastructure that lets Oracle ERP users manage performance and licensing requirements.

SunGard also said it will provide key migration support for organizations upgrading from Oracle 11i within the next year to R12.
