Motorola Xoom Debuts with Fuze Meeting Video Collaboration

Collaboration software vendor Fuze Box is bringing its flagship Fuze Meeting application to the Google Honeycomb (Android for tablets) OS. It’s set to make the Motorola Xoom the first Honeycomb tablet with a fully featured collaboration platform. Here’s the deal:

Fuze Meeting comes with a robust set of features, including:

  • Multi-party video chatting with 1080p resolution

  • Ability to host and run the meeting from the Xoom

  • Virtual point-and-zoom “laser pointer” technology

Motorola hopes to position Xoom as the “de-facto” tablet for the business world, and “give the iPad a run for its money,” according to the company. Video collaboration is a great way to do that, and the Xoom is just more proof that the consumerization of IT prevalent as ever, despite whatever has been said about competitors such as Cisco’s CIUS.

Fuze Box is a direct B2B sales company, and it works with some big brands, too. Businesses working in the channel can obviously benefit from the tools the Fuze Box is providing, since Fuze Meeting will run on all Honeycomb tablets, not just the Xoom.

If you’re interested in seeing it in action and happen to be in Barcelona, then head over to the Mobile World Congress 2011 and check out the latest technology demonstrations.
