PaaS provider Corent Technologies is working with Dell Services to enable independent software vendors (ISVs) to migrate their existing on-premises applications to SaaS offerings. The two companies are aiming to provide ISVs and enterprises with a complete suite of cloud application migration services based around Corent’s SurPaaS platform.
Corent and Dell are offering the migration services to joint customers to provide scalability, speed to market and cost savings through the conversion of apps from single to multi-tenant to be hosted on private clouds. This includes to Dell Cloud Dedicated Service, but also the public clouds being offered by Dell Cloud Partner Program members. It’s not limited to partner-owned public clouds, though.
“Working with Dell Services, we are expanding our power and reach to serve the multitude of enterprises and software vendors looking to adopt SaaS within their applications or offerings portfolio,” said Shafi Syed, executive vice president of Engineering at Corent Technology, in a prepared statement. “The solution will allow businesses globally to move to the future by bringing their applications portfolio into the cloud.”
This is an interesting move that could drive additional revenue that may not be through Dell partners, but likely will end up creating revenue for them.
Cloud migration services are fairly hot right now, and SurPaaS in conjunction with Dell will drive additional revenue in that space as the cloud market continues to grow.
For Dell, this fits into the company’s Applications and Business Process Outsourcing line of business. According to Dell, the joint offering will accelerate time to market for applications being shifted over to the cloud.
Dell made no mention of whether partners would be included, but considering the number of ISVs, systems integrators and resellers currently migrating customers’ software to the cloud, it seems like something the company likely won’t ignore.
