Forgive The VAR Guy for having Cisco Systems on the brain. Our resident blogger just booked travel to the 2009 Cisco Partner Summit in Boston, scheduled for June 2-4. But even before he packs for Beantown, The VAR Guy is hearing Cisco rumors — especially when it comes to small business channel initiatives.

Alas, The VAR Guy can’t offer too many details just yet. But remember: Cisco in November 2008 vowed to pump $100 million into the company’s small business product and channel strategy. Expect plenty of updates at the partner summit.

For most of 2009, there were rumors Cisco was planning a standalone virtual event with a heavy emphasis on small business partners and customers. Now, The VAR Guy hears, Cisco will coordinate the face-to-face partner conference with virtual content for small business partners. Stay tuned.

At the same time, it’s safe to assume Cisco is planning some pleasant margin surprises for small business partners. Time to log off — before the Cisco police deliver a gag order on this blog.

More details in the days ahead. Oh, and not to be forgotten: Our resident blogger will also cover Juniper‘s J-Partner Summit, kicking off May 18 in Las Vegas.
