PRESS RELEASE — Santa Clara, Calif., June 15, 2015 — Vertical Communications®, a leading provider of business communications software and solutions, announced the general availability release 5.0 of its Wave IP platform software, along with the introduction of a new cloud service — Vertical Updates — and a new series of Vertical IP phones.

Wave IP Release 5.0

Wave IP offers a comprehensive platform for enterprise communications – voice, UC, collaboration and more.  Release 5.0 is the latest platform update to the Vertical Wave IP™ and offers both new features as well as significant platform architecture updates.

New in Wave IP 5.0:

  • Updated core platform services, including support for MS SQL 2012

  • Support for automated software updates via Vertical Updates

  • High density call recording (up to 125 simultaneous call recording sessions)

  • New features and tools for streamlined provisioning and deployment

  • New Vertical IP phone family

  • Feature enhancements for mobile and desktop UC, including seamless session handoff between devices

  • Expanded support for third-party SIP phones, including Polycom VVX

  • New bundled applications for inbound IVR

Vertical Updates—New Cloud Service

Vertical is continually delivering software enhancements to its customer base, and now that process is fully automated with a new service – Vertical Updates. Easy to use and customizable by administrators, Vertical Updates delivers continuous updates from Vertical’s secure cloud so enterprises can easily take advantage of the most recent security and feature updates from Vertical while further reducing the overall TCO of Wave IP.

New Phones – Vertical Edge 9800 Series IP Phones

The latest Vertical Edge IP phone family features enterprise-class Gigabit Ethernet IP handsets with high-end color as well as cost-effective options and flexibility. Three new models, all supporting DSS expansion modules, are immediately available:

  • Edge 9820 (10-button) 

  • Edge 9830 (16-button)

  • Edge 9840 (24 button)

  • Edge 9824 LSS (LCD DSS Console – 24 button)

Support for Polycom VVX IP Phones

Wave IP 5.0 also supports expanded functionality for third-party Polycom VVX Business Media Phones, which can be integrated with Wave IP.

General Availability of Business Continuity Service

Previously available to beta customers, Vertical’s Business Continuity Service (BCS) is now available to the general market. BCS provides quick failover of Wave IP systems for full redundancy of calls, applications and data.
