Application performance company Riverbed Technology (RVBD) released a single appliance that incorporates integrated application aware network performance management (aaNPM) and application performance management (APM) to provide customers with a single solution enabling performance, availability and productivity of critical applications.

The company said the solution tackles end-to-end performance management from deep dive packet and network analysis through application transactions and end user experience (EUE), while additionally moving along the Riverbed Cascade and OPNET product families.

Included in the announcement are three Riverbed product updates:

  • Cascade Shark Module for OPNET AppResponse Xpert.

  • OPNET AppResponse Xpert Integration with Cascade Profiler and Cascade Pilot.

  • OPNET AppResponse Xpert 6000 Appliance.

Cascade Shark Module for OPNET AppResponse Xpert

This optional module adds the network intelligence capabilities of Cascade Shark by supplementing the existing end-user experience monitoring and transaction analysis provided by AppResponse Xpert, the company said.

Riverbed said the module can provide a unified appliance that combines end-user experience, application transaction analysis, and deep network intelligence and eliminates the need to deploy multiple appliances in the same location, while also accelerating network troubleshooting.

OPNET AppResponse Xpert Integration with Cascade Profiler and Cascade Pilot

Through this new announcement, AppResponse Xpert can now send data to Cascade Profiler, allowing the Cascade Profiler’s performance management interface and workflow to integrate directly into and with AppResponse Xpert,. the company indicated.

Cascade Pilot software has also unified and integrated with AppResponse Xpert and AppTransaction Xpert to help streamline troubleshooting and help the flow of data between the two products.

OPNET AppResponse Xpert 6000 Appliance

The AppResponse Xpert 6000 appliance, a new product, was developed for high-performance application infrastructures. The company said the AppResponse Xpert 6000 processes and writes to disk at up to 2x10Gbps line rates and provides 48TB of packet storage, expandable to 264TB.

With regards to channel partners, Riverbed Performance Management Senior Product of Marketing Michael Cucchi said in a briefing with MSPmentor that the the company has been ramping up channel partners through these product lines.

“Riverbed is known for being the gorilla in developing global channel ecosystems,” he said. “We have 1,600 global value-added resllers (VARs). Some of the larger managed services providers (MSPs) actually use our technologies as toolsets, sell services based on them.”

Cucchi said the company does a lot of partner enablement. He said when the company launches products, channel partners are considered as an integral stakeholder in the process. They receive early training, as well as additional toolsets.

The company recently appointed Ginna Raahauge, former VP of IT at Cisco (CSCO), as the company’s new senior vice president and CIO.
