Distribution Watch: D&H, Tech Data, Ingram Micro

Welcome back to another sizzling edition of Distribution Watch, your favorite place for up-to-the-minute distribution news. We want to send a special shout-out to all those distributor dads out there as we look forward to Father’s Day this Sunday.  For this week’s dad-eriffic edition of Distribution Watch, we’ve got stories from D&H Distributing, Tech Data (TECD) and Ingram Micro (IM). Read on!

D&H Distributing: Let’s give a nice housewarming welcome to D&H Canada, as the company recently settled into its new digs in Brampton, Ontario. The distributor’s new warehouse is roughly twice the size of its former facility, and was made necessary by the company’s revenue growth and a predicted jump in demand, according to D&H.

In fiscal year 2014, D&H Canada reported 18 percent gains in year over year revenue, with an estimated 25 percent growth for the upcoming fiscal year. The company expects to grow in all customer segments, including SMB resellers, direct marketers and mobility and networking infrastructure. D&H Canada has reported double-digit year-over-year growth since launching in Canada in 2007.

“D&H Canada is proud to invest in the growth of the company, and consequently, in the growth of our customers,” said Greg Tobin, general manager at D&H Canada in a statement. “This new facility offers multiple benefits that will ensure streamlined, expedient throughput of orders as we move toward a predicted expansion in the marketplace.  We’re grateful to our customers for their loyalty, which is what has propelled us forward. These new foundations will allow us to help develop our resellers’ business and support their long-term success.”

Tech Data: Tech Data recently announced an expanded distribution agreement with CA Technologies (CA), which will allow the distributor to provide the CA arcserve Managed Service Provider Licensing Program to its network of solutions providers. CA arcserve is available to Tech Data partners through the TDCloud business unit.

"More businesses are seeking to leverage offsite data protection and availability of business-critical systems, applications and data—creating new opportunities for solution providers," said Stacy Nethercoat, vice president, Product Marketing, Software and Cloud Services at Tech Data. "The arcserve MSP Licensing Program gives solution providers a robust set of tools to meet the varying and demanding requirements of their end-user customers."

With the arcserve MSP Licensing Program, Tech Data said its resellers will be able to offer CA licensing on individual products or solutions to their customers on a monthly basis. Arcserve features remote data protection for on- and off-premise storage, as well as full system high availability and several managed services templates, according to Tech Data.

Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro was named North American Distributor of the Year by EMC Corporation, in recognition of the distributor’s successful expansion of its EMC business in 2013. The award was presented during the EMC World Global Partner Summit, where Ingram Micro was also honored for its expansion of partner relationships and resource investments.

EMC said one of the main reasons Ingram was honored as a distributor of the year was due to the company’s success in building out its EMC VSPEX Assembly and Integration Services practice, which successfully allowed EMC to ship integrated VSPEX infrastructure solutions directly to end users through the channel.

"This unique and diversified approach to growing EMC's business has resulted in faster solution deployment timelines and increased partner and end-user satisfaction, especially with VSPEX. These results also clearly demonstrate how Ingram Micro has enriched its EMC relationship to help us fuel growth and ensure success for our channel partners," said Maureen Perrelli, senior director, Global Distribution, EMC. "We congratulate Ingram Micro on an outstanding year and this well-deserved recognition as our North American Distributor of the Year."

That’s all for this week, loyal Distribution Watch readers. Take the weekend to toss around a baseball with your old man, or make sure to pat yourself on the back for fathering the next generation of VARs and MSPs. Happy Father’s Day, and keep on distributing.
