Phil Gallagher, president of Avnet's (AVT) Technology Solutions (ATS) division, has announced his resignation to "focus on new career opportunities in line with his personal goals," according to the distributor. Gallagher will continue in his role until Avnet can find a successor, and will assist in a collaborative transition, according to the company.
Avnet said it has already begun looking for Gallagher’s successor, and expects to have a new leader in place by the end of the year.
"Phil is a well-respected, 31-year veteran of the company. Over the past five years, the Technology Solutions team has built a solid foundation for the future, adding several strategic suppliers, technologies and services to our portfolio,” said Rick Hamada, Avnet chief executive officer, in a statement. “In addition, they have expanded our geographic footprint in many key markets in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific. With this in place, we are well-positioned to create the robust solutions our customers need, and we thank Phil for his valuable contributions to the business.”
Gallagher served as president of ATS since 2009, responsible for the group’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations, according to his bio on the company website. During his time at Avnet, Gallagher has held several senior management positions, including his tenure as president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas from 2004 to 2009 and senior vice president of Global Business Development at Avnet Electronics Marketing. He joined the company in 1983.
Gallagher did not elaborate on what he plans to do next, or whether he will continue working within the channel.
