Avaya plans to host a partner conference October 13-15 in Nashville, Tenn. If the timing works out, The VAR Guy wonders: Will former Nortel Networks Enterprise employees and partners converge on the event? Here’s the scoop.

First, just the facts: Our resident blogger hears Avaya’s partner conference will be Oct. 13-15 at the Gaylord Opryland. Avaya channel leaders will use the event to brief key partners about the company’s go-to-market strategy.

If you attend be sure to bring a map or a handheld GPS. The impressive facility is massive. (Full disclosure: The VAR Guy got lost in Opryland quite a few times in 2009 while attending Autotask Community Live.)

Now the Speculation

As you’ll likely recall, Avaya this month bid to acquire Nortel’s Enterprise Solutions business.

Next, Avaya CEO Kevin Kennedy on July 20 wrote an open letter to Nortel Enterprise Solutions’ employees.

But the potential acquisition remains in flux. All About Nortel, one of The VAR Guy’s favorite blogs, notes that Gores Group/Siemens AG also plans to bid on Nortel’s enterprise business.

How soon will the bidding process end? Will Avaya come out on top? The VAR Guy doesn’t have any firm answers. But he does offer this speculation: If Avaya and Nortel’s enterprise group march forward together anytime soon, all eyes will converge on Nashville in October.

But even if Avaya-Nortel Enterprise doesn’t materialize, the Avaya partner conference should be worth watching. The company continues to offer healthy competition in the unified communications market. And The VAR Guy loves competition…
