The managed services industry is experiencing a golden age, according to Datto.
“There are still challenges out there. But overall, this is a great time to be an MSP,” said Greg Jones, vice president, business development, EMEA, at Datto. Jones made waves with, “There’s a lot of opportunity, and we look at this time as a golden age for the MSP community.’
Indeed, more than nine out of 10 MSPs believe it is a great time to be in the industry, according to Datto’s Global State of the MSP Report.
However, vendors need to improve support for MSPs, they said. Find out how here.
CrowdStrike and Dell Technologies have a new strategic alliance to help organizations prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats. Through the alliance, businesses can manage cyber threats and protect their endpoints, cloud workloads, identity and data.
The goal is to accomplish this with frictionless and cost-effective offerings. Businesses of all sizes will benefit from these products and services, the companies said.
Daniel Bernard is chief business officer at CrowdStrike. Bernard made waves when he said the collaboration provides significant market access, expediting consolidation from legacy and point products to cybersecurity’s leading modern platform.
“Together, Dell and CrowdStrike make cyber defense frictionless, automated and cost-effective — all while delivering on our mission of stopping breaches,” he said.

Zoom has abruptly fired president Greg Tomb “without cause,” the company said in a regulatory filing. A spokesperson for the tech firm said Zoom isn’t looking for a replacement, the BBC is reporting.
Tomb became Zoom’s president in June, only serving nine months on the job. He will get severance benefits in accordance with his contract.
The firing itself made waves, but Zoom made other news recently for laying off a sizeable portion of its workforce. Read more about that here.
JS Group CEO Janet Schijns said M&A will continue among vendors, albeit functioning more as a buyer’s market than as a seller’s market. She said channel history serves as a guide for how consolidation may occur, specifically within the tech services distributor (TSD) channel. Specifically, history tells us that the number of vendors will ultimately grow smaller, not larger.
“If you look at some of the TSDs, they might have 55 vendors in a specific area,” Schijns told Channel Futures. “That’s not going to hold. We saw that in the IT industry. The IT industry collapsed categories years ago, folding into one big vendor or two big vendors.”

Berkshire-backed Upstack has announced the purchase of two award-winning channel partners.
The technology advisor company unveiled its acquisitions of LinkSource Technologies and The Monaco Group (TMG). The deals, whose financial terms Upstack did not disclose, bring two of Intelisys’ top partners into the Upstack family. At a high level, buying LinkSource gives Upstack a pathway into hardware sourcing, and The Monaco Group gives enterprise-focused advisory services. Moreover, both agencies bring Upstack deep customer bases that the partners have developed over the years.
“We’re excited about our partnership with Upstack, which has the wherewithal to help LinkSource Technologies in its next phase of growth,” said LinkSource president Jason Newbold. “Upstack has the resources to serve the growing needs of our global customers as well as provide greater career opportunities for our employees.”

Cloud security company Zscaler has confirmed layoffs impacting 3% of its global workforce. That’s approximately 150 employees.
Zscaler announced the layoffs in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The cuts are part of Zscaler’s “planned efforts to streamline operations and to align people, roles and projects to the company’s strategic priorities.”
The company expects to complete the layoffs by the end of July. The company’s workforce is nearly 5,000 employees.
Jay Chaudhry is Zscaler‘s chairman and CEO. He made waves when he said in response to the layoffs that “we exceeded both our revenue and profitability guidance in Q2, demonstrating the operating leverage inherent in our business model.”
Find out how much Zscaler plans to pay out in severance and benefit costs.
Snowflake has expanded its partnership with AWS.
The data warehouse company intends to increase its AWS spend and pitch in on product development, integration, and sales and marketing collaboration. Meanwhile, both Snowflake and AWS will pour millions of dollars into go-to-market strategies. Snowflake alone will contribute $2.5 billion.
The vendors will team up for another five years. They’ve worked together for three years. Those efforts have “created what we believe may be one of the most successful technology co-sell partnerships in cloud computing,” Frank Slootman, chairman and CEO of Snowflake, said.
Adam Selipsky, CEO of AWS, agreed.
“Data is at the center of every application, process and business decision, and is the cornerstone of digital transformation,” he said. “Working alongside Snowflake, we are unlocking new value for thousands of customers around the world and helping them maximize their data investments.”
In other news, Snowflake, unlike some other tech companies, plans to add employees this year. Find out more here.
