Unisys Mobility Solutions Suite Secures, Tracks Devices
IT services and software provider Unisys Corp. (NYSE: UIS) joins the growing list of businesses providing mobile device management (MDM) solutions with the release of its Mobility Solutions Suite, designed to help organizations manage, secure and support smartphones and tablets along with their applications.
Unisys Assessment Services include an overview of the current state of a company’s infrastructure including MDM processes, modernization and porting of legacy applications to mobile devices (along with built-in security features and application performance monitoring). Also included are user authentication services, which can be tailored to the individual needs of organizations and individuals.
As business grapple with the consumerization of IT and bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives, they also must focus on bringing their applications up to speed for a more mobile-centric world. To that end, Unisys MyWork Services for Mobile is a group of subscription-based managed services designed to help an IT service desk operation improve the productivity and uptime of mobile end users through a mobile device help desk.
The services, which include MDM and end user experience monitoring, cover a range of mobile platforms such as Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhones and iPad tablets, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Android-based devices, RIM (NASDAQ: RIMM) BlackBerry devices and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows Mobile devices.
To round out the offerings, Unisys is partnering with Intel to support laptops and Ultrabook devices that include Intel Anti-Theft (AT) to automatically or remotely disable the device if it is lost or stolen. The device then can be restored to its original state if the authorized user finds it again.
