Alteryx Expands Cloud Offerings in Visual Analytics Platform

Alteryx has released a new version of its flagship platform, Alteryx for Visual Analytics. With a focus on strategic analytics solutions, Alteryx is also making progress not only in its traditional solutions but also in the cloud. The new version of Visual Analytics includes new cloud-based offerings designed to extend the product’s capabilities.

New features in the latest edition include:

  • The availability of cloud maps from CloudMade. These cloud maps are being made available to all Alteryx users, including those using Alteryx Project Edition. CloudMade provides OEMs and application developers with tools and APIs designed to enable them to create location-based devices and applications across major web and mobile platforms. As the company’s name suggests, all of its products are cloud-enabled. With the inclusion of the CloudMade maps, Alteryx users will have greater access to location-based development. Considering Alteryx’s focus is on delivering analytics platforms, this will likely give its customers more capabilities of tying location into their own analytics and Big Data analytics strategies.

  • An updated Alteryx Private Cloud Server. The update to Private Cloud Server is intended to support the latest Alteryx strategic analytics workflows. The product fits into Alteryx’s strategic analytics portfolio by enabling the sharing of analytics applications with business decision makers. Through it, customers can publish and share analytic information throughout the entire business, but with full control over visibility, sharing and access.

  • A more efficient way to access and retrieve data from Apache Hadoop. Alteryx has added support for access to the latest version of Hive Server, which it noted provides data analysts with a more efficient way to get data from Hadoop, which is becoming a more popular platform for Big Data.

The capabilities should provide an improvement on Alteryx’s Big Data analytics capabilities, particularly as they extend to the cloud.
