PRESS RELEASE – DENVER, CO–(Marketwired – Aug 4, 2015) – ViaWest, a leading provider of hybrid cloud and colocation solutions in North America, announces DreamHost, a top provider of web hosting and cloud services, has selected ViaWest’s Brookwood data center in the Portland area to support the company’s expanding customer base. ViaWest’s Brookwood facility, which opened this month, will encompass 138,000 square feet of raised floor space and is ViaWest’s third data center in Oregon.
Founded in 1997, DreamHost is based in Los Angeles and provides web hosting and cloud services for more than 400,000 customers. The company made the determination to consolidate its two data centers and move their colocation outside of California in an effort to decrease overhead while increasing operational efficiency. “We wanted to focus our internal resources on developing products instead of maintaining our data centers,” states Patrick Lane, vice president, data center operations at DreamHost. By moving to ViaWest’s Brookwood facility, the company will be able to achieve significant, double-digit percentage cost savings.
“In making our decision, we toured over 20 different data centers. Ultimately we selected ViaWest not only because of the facility and competitive pricing, but also because of the people; their company culture aligns well with our culture. At the end of the day, we felt we could trust the ViaWest team with our mission critical IT infrastructure, and that ViaWest would be more of a partner than just a vendor,” continues Lane.
“We are thrilled to welcome DreamHost as an anchor tenant in our newest data center facility,” said Bill Cory, ViaWest regional vice president in the Oregon/Pacific Northwest market. “DreamHost’s selection of our Brookwood facility speaks to the differentiated level of service that sets ViaWest apart from other data center providers.”
The Brookwood data center is designed to be fault tolerant. Upon completion, the facility will offer:
700+ Watts/Sq. Ft. high density capacity availability
18 MW redundant UPS capacity
High security with 24×7 key card access with secondary biometric authentication, and six-zone security access
Dual-standard SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 Service Organization Control (SOC) 1Type II, SOC 2 Type II, and SOC 3 reports
100% uptime Service Level Agreement for power, bandwidth and network services
