Savvis plans to open a new data center in Minnesota next spring.
The CenturyLink-owned cloud computing provider said on Tuesday its MP2 data center will be housed in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The multitenant, Tier III facility will offer colocation, cloud, managed hosting and network services. It will at first feature 13,000 square feet of raised floor space supporting 1.2 megawatts, with intended expansion to 100,000 square feet and 4.8 megawatts.
The data center further will feature certification from the Uptime Institute and the U.S. Green Building Institute’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design.
Compass Datacenters will build the data center on 10 acres of land it owns in Shakopee, Minn., and lease the facility to Savvis.
MP2 will mark Savvis’ second data center in the Twin Cities.
