Not Necessarily News: What’s Your Cell Style?
Green Apple?
Apples iPhone is drawing a lot of attention, not only for its innovative user interface but for its anti-environmental composition. According to a report from the activist organization Greenpeace, scientific tests of the iPhone uncovered two types of hazardous substances brominated compounds and phthalates that have been eliminated by other mobile phone makers. Additionally, the report stated the iPhones battery was glued and soldered to the handset, inhibiting replacement or separation for recycling or appropriate disposal. Based on the report, the Center for Environmental Health initiated legal action against Apple Inc. since the levels of phthalates allegedly found in the iPhone are in violation of California law.
