MSPs to Get Symantec Cloud Workload Protection from Pax8

It gives MSPs a cloud-delivered solution that protects both cloud-resident and on-premises workloads from compromise.

PRESS RELEASE — DENVER, Colo., Feb. 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Pax8, the leading value-added cloud distributor, today announced it will offer Symantec™ Cloud Workload Protection (CWP) Software as a Service (SaaS), providing Managed Service Providers (MSPs) with a cloud-delivered solution that protects both cloud-resident and on-premises workloads from compromise with an operationally efficient, single-console implementation.

“As cloud adoption rises, part of the Pax8 value-add is to help MSPs craft a grounding strategy to close the security gap,” said Ryan Walsh, chief channel officer at Pax8. “While most companies initially approach cloud security by applying their existing security processes and controls to their cloud environment, according to Enterprise Strategy Group1, 74 percent stated they had to abandon the use of many of their traditional security policies and technologies because they could not be applied effectively for the cloud. This can leave companies vulnerable to cyberattacks. Symantec CWP provides the protection MSPs need to secure their customers’ hybrid environments.”

Forrester2 predicts cloud security spending alone to reach $3.5 billion by 2021, which represents a 28 percent annual growth rate over the next five years. As cybersecurity threats continue to rise, IT ecosystems require more protection, creating a need in the market for multi-functional, intelligent cloud security solutions.

Symantec CWP, a component of Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defense Platform, protects workloads deployed across hybrid clouds against advanced threats. The capabilities include:

  • Automatic discovery and visualization of AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform public cloud workloads so MSPs can better understand workload security postures and relationships
  • Automatic discovery and inventory of operating systems and applications correlating to the Common Platform Enumeration (CPE) and Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) dictionaries to determine potential vulnerabilities
  • Automatic recommendation of security policies and protections including application isolation, operating system hardening, real-time file integrity monitoring (RT-FIM), real-time anti-malware scanning, user activity and process monitoring, and Docker container protection
  • Inter-workload protections using host-based firewalls to control east-west traffic between workloads

Symantec’s cloud-native CWP SaaS solution offers many benefits to MSPs and their clients, including automatic scaling with seamless ebbs and flows and metered pricing with a pay-as-you-use model. CWP also supports workload tags so that when CWP agents are installed with newly provisioned instances, the designated protection policy is automatically assigned.
