IT management software provider Autotask is buying Soonr, creating new revenue opportunities for managed service providers and others in the channel.

Soonr provides enterprise secure file sharing and collaboration services for IT business managers. Patrick Burns, Autotask’s vice president of product management, tells Channel Partners his company will expand its offering to “better serve the needs of our customers, increasing customer return on investment, as well as their ability to scale.”

“Soonr represents not only a new offering for Autotask, but a new managed service that our customers can offer their end clients to help increase revenue,” he said. “SMBs have always had the need to securely manage access to files and data. With Soonr, Autotask MSP customers can meet this need with better technology than legacy solutions like physical servers, VPN and manual file copying.”

Autotask is buying U.S.-based Soonr and Denmark-based Soonr ApS. Both are now Autotask subsidiaries.

MSPs have a “wide open market to address,” Burns said. The file sharing and synchronization market is currently $1.8 billion with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 34 percent, he said.

Soonr has 550 reseller partners, including large white-label distributors. Autotask brings another 7,000 potential partners from its existing channel.

Autotask signed its first partner, a major U.K.-based MSP, just after the deal closed Wednesday, Burns said. Autotask is now available in seven languages and used in more than 90 countries.

For MSPs, Soonr offers increased client retention by managing valuable data flows, and reinforcement of the MSP as a trusted advisor, he added.

“Autotask provides IT business management software that allows customers to deliver technology services more efficiently,” said Ahmet Tuncay, Soonr’s CEO. “We are thrilled to be part of the Autotask team and to enable Autotask’s end clients to improve productivity with better mobility and data protection assurance.”
