Verodin, the security measurement provider, has hired a former Symantec sales leader to oversee all of its revenue.

Robert Potter now serves as Verodin’s chief revenue officer, managing the company’s partnerships, sales and field operations. The company says he is responsible for expanding its channel relationships.

Verodin CEO Christopher Key says Potter has proven himself in almost 30 years of work in the IT/cybersecurity industry.

“His depth of experience in global markets, security technologies, channel development and building go-to-market partnerships made him the clear choice. Verodin customers will benefit from his long history in building customer-focused organizations and helping customers improve their overall security posture,” Key said.

Potter spent the last three years at Symantec, where he began as vice president of the Americas and finished as vice president of public sector and health care. He led federal sales for Lancope and RSA, and served as vice president of sales for Countertack. He has worked in sales for most of his career but worked as a developer for IBM from 1990 to 1997.

He says wants to work with Verodin’s security implementation platform (SIP), which tests and monitors businesses’ security infrastructure. He says chief information security officers frequently bemoan the lack of measurements for their security products when he worked at Symantec.

“I believe Verodin SIP will become the most-leveraged capability in any enterprise technology stack,” Potter said. “I am excited to join the team and contribute to Verodin’s continued success. I look forward to expanding our channel relationships and leveraging our partners to accelerate our growth globally.”

Arthur Coviello, a former RSA executive chairman, praised Potter’s pedigree.

The ability of Verodin to attract a talented executive like Rob Potter to the team speaks volumes to the need for Verodin’s technology in the marketplace and the potential of the company,” Coviello said. “Verodin should be on everyone’s radar.”

We’ve seen a mini-migration of Symantec executives this year. Edward Gately reported in June that seven sales and channel executives left Symantec for Comodo.
