Verizon Business Adds Global Ethernet to Managed Services

To meet the growing popularity of Carrier Ethernet, Verizon Business is expanding its managed services portfolio with the addition of Global Managed Ethernet. Now, multinational organizations can place Verizon Ethernet services in a managed network environment containing just those services, or in combination with other network services for a complete end-to-end, global managed network solution.

The new managed offerings consist of Ethernet Private Line Service, Ethernet Virtual Private Line Service and Virtual Private LAN Service. Customers who employ Private IP Layer 2 will also be able to choose a managed service.

"For the first time, our customers can combine the power of MPLS and Ethernet in a fully managed end-end-to-end global networking solution," said Anthony Recine, vice president of networking and communications solutions for Verizon Business. "Together our Private IP and Ethernet services deliver an ideal business communications platform to handle big-bandwidth applications in a similar fashion, no matter where they are located around the world."

These managed services support a variety of applications including VoIP, storage and business continuity, large file transfers, distance learning, content delivery and unified communications.

"This is an important development for multinational companies seeking a global managed solution for Carrier Ethernet services," according to Courtney Munroe, group vice president, worldwide telecommunications, of market research firm IDC. "Verizon’s service is a cost-effective alternative to customers undertaking the burden of managing a complex global network on their own. It also provides the additional value of Verizon’s global support and secure infrastructure."

Managed Network Services customers can also take advantage of the Verizon Enterprise Center, an advanced self-service portal that enables business customers to securely check online the status of their orders, review and pay bills, request new services, monitor their network service performance, and open trouble tickets. Customers can also opt to receive their bill in an environmentally-friendly paperless format.

The Verizon Enterprise Center is available round-the-clock in 11 languages English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Swedish, Portuguese and Japanese enabling business customers worldwide to securely conduct day-to-day business with Verizon remotely. Verizon customers also have access to the Verizon Enterprise Center Mobile service, which enables them to receive and access information in near-real time on a mobile device.
