A new agreement means Telamon will distribute LG-Nortel’s WDM-PON Ethernet Access solutions across North America.

Telamon will distribute the solutions to its existing customer base and into new accounts, meeting rapidly growing demand for fiber-optic access solutions as carriers increasingly roll out fibre-to-the-business/home/basestation (FTTx) services to residential and business customers.

The LG-Nortel portfolio is one of the industry’s first to use a Wavelength Division Multiplexing – Passive Optical Networking (WDM-PON) architecture, which extends the cost and performance advantages of carrier-grade Ethernet to the “First Mile” and overcomes traffic jams caused by bandwidth-hungry applications such as HD video on demand, according to the company.

As an LG-Nortel channel partner, Telamon will deliver LG-Nortel solutions, including its Ethernet Access WDM-PON product line, Transponder (SpeedLight16 and TurboLight16) customer premises equipment, and Ethernet Access Service Terminal splitter. Together, these solutions work with LG-Nortel’s full range of optical service delivery and management tools to provide a complete FTTx solution for carriers.
