To meet growing broadband demand in Mexico, Level 3 Communications has expanded its network capacity and suite of services there. The company hopes to better serve global enterprises and carriers doing business in Mexico.

Level 3 now offers EtherSphere WAN transport services, IP VPN, Wavelength Services, Private Line, Dedicated Internet Access and high-speed IP service, and Ethernet local access service. All are available through Level 3’s locally licensed affiliate.

"This is good news for both multinational corporations and telecom service providers that do business in Mexico and are looking for a more direct route to Latin America," said Hector Alonso, Level 3’s regional president, Latin America. "Mexico represents the second largest market in Latin America and serves as a gateway to the region. With this expansion, Level 3 continues to help businesses gain network efficiencies, and enables global solutions for data and transport services."

Gartner predicts the Mexican market for broadband Internet access, Ethernet and IP VPN services is projected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 15.8 percent between 2010 and 2015.

Level 3’s network infrastructure in Mexico connects the cities of Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City and Mazatlan through a 3,484 km ring. The system is capable of providing terabits of capacity to transport voice, data and multimedia services.

Level 3 just wrapped its acquisition of Global Crossing last month.
