EarthLink's two new packages offer a hotspot device that provides mobile Internet access in more than 80 cities nationwide.
IT services and communications provider EarthLink today launched its new 4G Internet-on-the-Go wireless Internet plans for consumers. The service is powered by Clearwire‘s 4G mobile broadband thanks to a wholesale agreement the two announced last September.
The two packages offer a hotspot device that provides mobile Internet access in more than 80 cities nationwide. The service delivers wireless Internet on up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices including smartphones, tablets and laptops, and does not require a contract. It starts at $29.95 per month for the standard plan.
The standard plan includes speeds up to 3Mbps and 2GB of monthly data. The premium plan, priced at $49.95 per month, doubles that speed and data usage to 6Mbps and 4 GB of monthly data. EarthLink also offers incremental data packages starting at $4.95 per month that can be added or removed at any time for a customer-tailored data offering.
"Pairing Clearwire’s leadership in 4G with our outstanding reputation for customer care provides more opportunity to satisfy customer needs and aligns with our long-term strategy," said Kevin F. Brand, EVP for EarthLink.
Cities where the plans are available include New York, Los Angeles; Chicago; Atlanta; Houston; Philadelphia; San Francisco; Dallas; Washington, D.C. ; Seattle; and Miami.
