Charter Business has hired Matthew Keaney away from EarthLink Business as it expands partner traction in the northeastern United States.

The cable operator’s business division recruited Keaney from EarthLink, where he had served as director of channel since 2009; Keaney now works as northeaster regional channel sales manager for the Charter Business Partner Program. He is based out of Worcester, Mass.

Keaney’s duties include overseeing Charter Business channels in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska, which are managed by Cathy Banks, as well as channel sales in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont, areas managed by John Dee.

Keaney started working in telecom in 2001, at Conversent Communications. When that company was acquired by One Communications, he worked with Michael Fair, who now serves as channel chief for Charter Business.
