AboveNet has expanded service to Miami. This is the companys 16th U.S. market and supports what it calls a continued focus on enhancing its global footprint to best support customers with large data transport needs.

Miami is an established high-bandwidth center with a significant datacenter footprint, a leading international IP gateway and many financial, media and health care enterprises that require the type of high-bandwidth solutions delivered by AboveNet,” said Rajiv Datta, CTO of AboveNet. In many respects, we believe that AboveNets service strength and focus are well-aligned to Miamis market dynamics and customer needs.”

In support of this expansion, AboveNet is connecting to Terremarks NAP of the Americas in Miami. Currently, AboveNet also connects to major Terremark data centers located in Herndon, Va., Dallas, and in Santa Clara, Calif.

We are excited to expand our relationship with AboveNet,” said Norm Laudermilch, Terremarks SVP of Infrastructure. AboveNets competitive high-bandwidth solutions will deliver significant value to our customers in this market.”

AboveNet is committed to investing in our network to serve our customers in key high-bandwidth markets. By expanding our capabilities to the Miami marketplace, we will be able to deliver our next-generation services to customers in Miami and to customers across our portfolio of high-bandwidth centers with connectivity needs to this significant market,” said Bill LaPerch, AboveNet CEO.

Just last week, AboveNet announced it was expanding into Denver with deployment of a new fiber-optic metro network in the Mile High City.
