Panorama9, which develops a cloud-based IT management platform, has extended beyond Windows to support Linux and Mac users, acknowledging the reality that today’s IT environments have gone multi-platform.

Panorama9 CEO Allan Thorvaldsen estimates that 18 percent of users run Mac OS X and 2 percent are using Linux. “We are increasingly seeing more and more Linux servers and many companies expect up to 50 percent Mac/Windows within the next two years,” says Thorvaldsen. Through the new Mac OS X and Linux agents, IT managers can now monitor any device, without any concern to what hardware is deployed or is brought onto the network by employees, addressing the bring your own device (BYOD) trend.

To add Panorama9 support for Mac OS X or Linux devices, companies will need to install the agent on each computer. Once installed, the agent will begin collecting information about the machine, and report it to the Panorama9 Cloud. Any issues during the installation will be presented to users in the Panorama9 dashboard. Thorvaldsen, however, doesn’t expect any issues during the installation, “Panorama9 doesn’t eat up bandwidth or processor power like you sometimes see using antivirus software.”

The following features are available to Panorama9 users:

  • Vulnerability management

  • Availability monitoring

  • Network management

  • Asset management

  • Compliance management

Panorama9 is a pay-as-you-go subscription-based service. New users can sign up for a 30-day free trial and deploy within five minutes. To fit businesses of all sizes, tiered pricing plans are offered. To learn more about Panorama9, visit the company’s website.
