New leadership from within the ranks

RingCentral leadership is changing in end-of-the-year moves.

Vaibhav Agarwal, RingCentral’s chief accounting officer, is appointed interim chief financial officer effective Jan. 1, 2022. In addition, Anand Eswaran is stepping down from his role as president and COO at the company. However, RingCentral has not yet announced his replacement.

RingCentral’s Vlad Shmunis

Vlad Shmunis is RingCentral’s founder, chairman and CEO.

“I would like to thank Anand for his contributions to RingCentral over the last two years,” he said. “We are happy for the next chapter in his career and wish him good luck on all fronts.”

New Leadership, Old Leadership

Prior to RingCentral, Eswaran spent five years at Microsoft, where he served as corporate vice president. In his new venture, he will be CEO for a late-stage private company, he said. The company has over a billion dollars in annual recurring revenue in a category not competitive with RingCentral.

“It has been a privilege to serve as president and COO of RingCentral, one of the world’s leading cloud communications providers and an important driver of innovation in our industry,” Eswaran said. “What makes RingCentral so special is the focus, passion and execution mindset from the entire team. So, I wish continued success for RingCentral and its outstanding team.”

Shmunis said RingCentral has deep and capable leadership across all areas with an enviable track record of strong execution.

“On that note, I am pleased to announce that Vaibhav Agarwal, our chief accounting officer and a five-year RingCentral veteran, is promoted to the role of interim chief  financial officer. So, I look forward to closely working with Vaibhav in the next exciting chapter of RingCentral.”

Agarwal has held several roles at the company, including as corporate controller. Additionally, he served as assistant corporate controller for Intel.

“I am excited and humbled to be given this opportunity to be the interim CFO of RingCentral, a global UCaaS leader,” Agarwal said. “Leveraging our well-proven strengths of people, technology and partnerships, RingCentral is well positioned for continued success in this unique $100 billion+ digital transformation opportunity.”

In early November, RingCentral shook up the UCaaS competitive landscape when it entered into a strategic partnership with Mitel. RingCentral is providing Mitel’s global customer base with a migration path to their cloud phone system.

Earlier in the year, RingCentral entered a strategic partnership with Verizon to provide collaboration across multiple devices.
