Dell Hires Cloud Computing Evangelist
Is Dell serious about cloud computing? Ask Barton George (pictured). He joined the computing giant in August and now serves as Dell’s cloud computing evangelist. And… George also happens to have close relationships with Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu Linux. Here’s the scoop.
At first glance, George is your classic business development manager. Before joining Dell, he was senior director of business development at Lombardi Software, and group manager for Linux strategy and open source at Sun Microsystems.
But take a closer look, folks. George was a social media expert before most of us wrote our first Tweet. The VAR Guy met George at the Ubuntu Live conference in Portland about two years ago. At the time, George was writing quite a bit on his own blog about Linux, Ubuntu and Canonical.
