Blancco, a provider of data-erasure services, on Tuesday announced new distribution agreements with Ingram Micro Canada, H3 Secure, Bayside Solutions and Softchoice.

This latest expansion of distribution partners follows signings with Ingram Micro in March and Arrow Electronics in June. Until three years ago, the 20-year old global company relied on a direct sales model; however, gaining entrance into the enterprise space required going indirect.

Less than a year ago, Blancco launched its Erasure-as-a-Service offering, and simultaneously, the Blancco Service Provider Partner Program for distributors, resellers, VARs, MSPs, and MSSPs. Since launching the program, the company has more than double its number of partners, with the most traction being in the past six months.

“We know that we’re a small component – but a very important one – for a holistic security message,” Christina Walker, global director for channel sales and partner programs at Blannco, told Channel Futures. “Our goal is to help our partners get the message out there that data erase isn’t just about data destruction.”

If you’re not thinking about data erasure as part of a holistic security strategy, maybe you should.

Not only are businesses facing mounting amounts of data, they’re also required to adhere to a growing number of data protection and compliance requirements, across industries, that demand auditable asset erasure for visibility and transparency.

Enterprise data sanitization is recommended as part of an enterprise security strategy. Only deleting data leaves sensitive information behind.

Blancco offers a number of data-erasure solutions. In the data center – private data center, collated facility or third-partner cloud provider, for example – the vendor’s services address end-of-life drives and servers to active files, virtual machines and logical storage area networks.

The Erasure as a Service addresses tier 1-4 data centers for: decommissioning servers in rack; full server arrays; technology upgrade projects; data center moves; avoiding non-return disk fees, in case of break-fix disk replacement; and data-migration projects.

In the enterprise, erasure services address enterprise infrastructure to increase efficiency, mitigate risk, meet compliance requirements and reduce costs when it comes time to reallocate, resell or recycle assets.

The company uses globally certified data software, approved by more than 15 governing bodies, worldwide, and erases to U.S. Department of Defense Standard 5220.22-M and more than 20 other standards to meet security and regulatory compliance requirements.

Partners participating in Blancco’s Service Provider Partner Program get access to enablement that includes business, technical, marketing and go-to-market support; and certification and training for sales and engineers.

Blancco is looking to expand its partner base, particularly MSPs that focus on the enterprise data center and federal government space, Walker said.

Ingram Micro just named Blancco its emerging vendor of the year for data center solutions, at Ingram Micro One, being held this week in Washington, D.C.
