Tech Data Corp. now owns all of TDMobility.

That’s because the distributor has acquired the 50 percent ownership that was held by Brightstar Corp. The two companies formed TDMobility as a joint venture in April 2011.

“Acquiring full ownership of the joint venture reflects our commitment to grow our presence in the U.S. mobility distribution and services market,” said Joe Quaglia, senior vice president of U.S. marketing and president of TDMobility. “Mobility is an important element of our diversification strategy.”

TDMobility helps VARs launch and run a mobility practice, offering services from device selection and activation to security and management in the data center. CellManage and TDActivate comprise the mobility unit’s flagship services. Tech Data works with wireless operators including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
