Release of BlackBerry Bold 9900 Delayed Report

One of Research in Motions new smartphones, the BlackBerry Bold 9900, wont be released this summer as originally expected. That’s according to a report from Fudzilla, which says it has learned that the smartphone wont arrive until at least September.

The report did not name sources or cite a specific reason for the delay, but Fudzilla noted it heard that the availability of parts is a factor, but not the entire issue.”

Last month, RIM unveiled the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930, which are the thinnest BlackBerry smartphones at 10.5mm. The company announced that the smartphones were expected to be available from carriers around the world beginning this summer.

Among other capabilities, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 feature a built-in compass (magnetometer) to support location-based services.

Fudzilla said it did not know whether the delay would affect the release of the BlackBerry Bold 9930.

RIMs media relations department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the report.
