Miradore has launched a free cloud-based mobile device management (MDM) solution to help managed services providers (MSPs) manage customer devices.

The company said its cloud-based solution lets MSPs manage security settings and configurations of all mobile devices and keeps an up-to-date inventory of them. The solution will be delivered from the Miradore cloud located in Finland.

How exactly can Miradore and MSPs offer this MDM solution for free? According to the company, it’s because of its freemium-based business model.

“End-users can upgrade later to the full Miradore solution, in which there’s a per-device monthly fee,” a spokesperson said. The paid solution extends management support to desktops and servers. “However, there’s an unlimited free version with no time limit, nor limit in number of mobile devices — it’s not a trial version, and we don’t force anyone to upgrade.”

Miradore CEO Marko Ruusinen said in a statement that “every organization needs to manage its mobile devices and now there is an easy option to do so, regardless of the size or the type of organization.”

“When it comes to the MSP program, the freemium model provides secure BYOD hub for the CIO for mobile devices,” a company spokesperson said. “With such model the MSP can offer premium services to selected categories of companies and exchange information for what is needed to provide such a service.”

As with many independent MDM vendors in today’s enterprise mobility management (EMM) space, Miradore is backed by venture capital (VC) funding.

Some of Miradore’s customers include global IT services companies such as Fujitsu and Dimension Data.

Miradore is headquartered in Finland, but has offices in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
