Centrify Pumps Up Samsung KNOX Mobile Solution

Identity services vendor Centrify is bringing its Microsoft (MSFT) Active Directory integration, Zero Sign-On and mobile device management capabilities to certain Samsung KNOX-enabled devices, expanded a partnership the two entered into earlier this year.

Centrify, which unifies identifies across data center, cloud and mobile environments, is adding its features at no cost to complement Samsung’s KNOX mobile device management/mobile application management (MDM) solution. KNOX enables users to separate their work and personal lives on their mobile devices and provides enterprise-level security. The addition of Centrify for Samsung KNOX technology will provide integrated Active Directory management, KNOX container management that separates personal data from corporate data, and device management.

The latest Samsung devices that are KNOX-enabled—specifically, the Galaxy S4, Note 3 and Note 10.1—can leverage the technology.

Centrify also has signed up to be a reseller of Samsung KNOX licenses—a relationship that undoubtedly will only help facilitate the use of Centrify’s technology on the KNOX platform. In addition, the company has launched the All Things KNOX resource site, created to provide information on the KNOX platform, related industry news and educational content on topics including the migration to SaaS and mobile apps, container management and SSO for mobile apps.

“We are excited to deliver on our partnership with Samsung to empower the mobile workforce with enterprise-class mobility and join with Samsung to further improve security initiatives and increase workforce productivity for millions of enterprise employees,” said Centrify CEO Tom Kemp in a prepared statement. “This is the first delivery of many rollouts we expect from the Samsung and Centrify partnership, delivering Centrify’s mobile security and role-based policy management to Samsung’s growing global customer base.”

Centrify for Samsung KNOX is available and included in the KNOX subscription price. The Samsung KNOX license key can be added to the Centrify Cloud Manager portal to enable Centrify for Samsung KNOX features. Samsung KNOX licenses are available for purchase from Centrify via an annual subscription of $43.20 per device, which includes support.

Competition in the mobile device space isn’t slowing down, as bring-your-own-device and other enabling trends continue to proliferate in the workspace. Ensuring employee and corporate data are protected equally can be a game-changer in mobility rollouts. Solution providers who can offer their customers a comprehensive, secure solution will be those who come out on top.
