Global telecommunications giant BT (BT) will leverage BroadSoft (BSFT) BroadCloud managed services for BT Cloud Voice, a new cloud-based IP voice and unified communications (UC) service for businesses.

The BroadCloud managed services provide a cloud-based hosted infrastructure that serves as the basis for BroadSoft’s business services.

BT Cloud Voice leverages the BroadCloud managed services to give businesses the flexibility to extend their core telephony services to various cloud UC applications and features, according to BroadSoft.

This cloud-based IP voice and UC service offers:

  • Conferencing capabilities

  • Customer relationship management (CRM) integration

  • High-definition voice capabilities

  • Instant messaging

  • Web collaboration tools

“As workforces turn increasingly mobile, businesses are looking for a flexible solution with features and applications available to users from one common platform and across multiple fixed and mobile communications devices; this is exactly what BT Cloud Voice will deliver,” BroadSoft CEO Michael Tessler said in a prepared statement.

How does BT Cloud Voice work?

BT pointed out BT Cloud Voice enables businesses to “rapidly set up and start using a wide range of [UC] capabilities” without hardware or maintenance.

Businesses can use BT Cloud Voice to remain connected while they are away from the office with a single integrated telephone number for their office and mobile phones, BT said.

This service also allows business users to redirect their calls when they are out of the office and manage their calling features from any device via an online portal.

“BT Cloud Voice is a highly reliable and flexible business communications system and future-proofed solution for UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),” said John Thorneycroft, BT Business‘ commercial managing director. “Our customers expect great value and high-quality products, and BT Cloud Voice delivers on both counts.”
