Axalto, a provider of microprocessor cards for digital networks, said on Tuesday at CTIA it signed 11 multiyear agreements with MVNOs and mobile virtual network enablers (MVNEs) in 2005 to supply SIM cards and services such as applications, server solutions and customized logistics.

Axalto said it expects to sign more such deals throughout this year.

A MVNE is a company hired by the MVNOs to operate back-office systems and connect to a GSM operator such as Cingular Wireless to launch the service.

Axalto’s SIM technology helps MVNOs and MVNEs set up their devices to operate on the GSM network, as well as develop customized applications for niche markets such as prepaid, Hispanics, teens and seniors.
