The HPE-SAP Alliance just expanded. SAP announced availability of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, customer edition, a turnkey solution. SAP partnered with HPE to deliver the offer.

HPE GreenLake cloud services for SAP HANA deliver SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud as a fully managed service at the edge. The service can be delivered in the customer’s data center or colocation facility of their choosing. HPE will supply, install and manage the infrastructure for the customer in a secure environment. SAP cloud application services will support the day-to-day running of the applications and help customers with adoption of SAP S/4HANA.

“Customers are increasingly turning to HPE GreenLake to enable them to benefit from the agility and flexibility of the cloud while also offering the security, data sovereignty, compliance, visibility and cost controls of an on-premises deployment,” said Keith White, senior vice president and general manager, HPE GreenLake cloud services. ‘We have a tremendous opportunity to build on the extensive proven partnership that HPE and SAP have built over decades, with the combination of our rapidly growing cloud services business with HPE GreenLake and our market leadership in powering SAP workloads.”

SAP Partner Opportunity

Neither of the companies’ partners can sell the solution as part of this expanded HPE-SAP alliance. This is a SAP offering for SAP customers delivered with HPE GreenLake.

“This is not available through HPE direct sales or through HPE partners. HPE will supply, install and manage the infrastructure, and SAP will add their expertise in operating complex private cloud landscapes from the operating system through the SAP HANA database, including the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud catalog of applications such as SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW/4HANA,” Sunil Patel, director, worldwide SAP ecosystem sales at HPE, told Channel Futures.

However, SAP system integrators will be critical in bringing this solution to their customers, since they drive the deployment.

SAP introduced SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud in 2013 as a managed private cloud service. Up until today, businesses could opt to run SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud in SAP data centers or using cloud hyperscalers. Those hyperscalers include AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. Now, there’s a third choice — run it in their own data center.

According to HPE, the two vendors share 25,000 joint customers, worldwide.
