Comcast Business Provides Enterprises Direct Links to AWS

PRESS RELEASE — CHANNEL PARTNERS — Comcast Business (Booth 219) today announced that it provides enterprises with direct links to Amazon Web Services (AWS) with AWS Direct Connect, giving Comcast Business customers private network connectivity to the their AWS Cloud services that perform critical processes like production compute and storage, backup, dev/test, collaboration and billing or website hosting. With up to 10 Gbps of dedicated Ethernet connectivity to AWS using Comcast Business Ethernet, businesses with multiple locations — like offices, data centers or storefronts — can maximize performance when using AWS’s compute and storage services.

As a member of the AWS Partner Network (APN), Comcast Business also has the ability to connect more than 1 million Ethernet-enabled buildings in the Comcast network to additional AWS services like Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Solution (Amazon S3) and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC).{ad}

“As businesses expand their strategic use of cloud services for IT, the essential connectivity requirements they look for are high performance, reliability, security and access flexibility,” said Erin Dunne, Director of Research, Vertical Systems Group. “The addition of Comcast Business to the AWS Partner Network provides business-class connectivity for cloud access throughout Comcast’s extensive Ethernet network footprint.”

The integration with AWS Direct Connect marks another addition to the data center and cloud program Comcast Business unveiled in 2014 that is designed to provide customers with more efficient access to cloud solutions. Comcast Business has one of the largest and most diverse networks in the country, with connections to more than 400 data centers and cloud exchanges, providing dynamic access to multiple cloud providers to give customers diverse routes for their critical enterprise services.

“Connecting to a leading provider of cloud services is an advanced IT asset for our enterprise customers, and as CIOs and IT leaders look to expand their use of AWS, our integration with AWS Direct Connect will give them a new Ethernet network option to connect dispersed office locations and data centers,” said Denise Hasty, senior vice president of Marketing and Product Management for Comcast Business. “A key part of our cloud and data center initiative is to give businesses direct access to cloud providers for increased options and flexibility as they customize their hybrid architecture strategies.”
