Trove is the DBaaS component developed by the OpenStack project. It lets OpenStack users build DBaaS services into their open source clouds. Tesora offers an “enterprise-hardened implementation” of Trove.
New in the latest version of Tesora’s platform, DBaaS Platform Enterprise Edition 1.6, are the following database features:
Support for Oracle 12c with backup and restore features.
PostgreSQL supports backup and restore, configuration group definitions and clustering and replication functionality.
MySQL and PostgreSQL support log retrieval for troubleshooting purposes.
The features extend the list of databases supported by and certified for Tesora’s implementation of Trove. The full list is available here.
In addition to the new database features, the latest version of Tesora’s enterprise DBaaS offering also adds certification for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7, as well as Mirantis OpenStack 6.1. Those updates extend the OpenStack distributions with which Tesora offers official compatibility.
Tesora says it is committed both to extending the databases that its Trove implementation supports, as well as developing new DBaaS features. “We continue to add support for more databases and operating systems but equally important we are adding new capabilities to the platform, such as log file management and more support for monitoring,” said Ken Rugg, CEO of Tesora. “These improvements make our implementation of OpenStack Trove the most advanced platform for database as a service.”
