VMware Cloud Veteran Lands At Abiquo Cloud Management

Abiquo, the self-billed Enterprise Cloud Management software company, says VMware veteran Wendy Perilli (pictured) has signed on as their VP of Global Marketing. In her five years at VMware, Perilli oversaw the company’s customer and service provider relationships  as VMware launched what would become known as the well-known vCloud Director. And now Abiquo is hoping that Perilli can accelerate Abiquo’s momentum in the MSP and cloud provider markets.

In an interview, Perilli says she remembers conversations with Amazon.com on the subject of cloud services well before they pioneered IaaS with Amazon Web Services — which goes to show how long she’s been thinking about the cloud industry. Perilli says she’s watched as the cloud has slowly but surely moved IT from a technology market to a consumer market, where users want anywhere, anytime access to information.

To that end, she describes Abiquo’s offering as “spot-on” and “perfect.” Enterprises moving to the cloud need self-service provisioning, hypervisor agnosticism, and better control if they’re ever going to move to the hybrid future everyone’s talking about.  But Perilli says that what really drew her to Abiquo was the intuitive  interface that makes managing a cloud deployment a snap.

Management of Abiquo’s burgeoning channel partner program is handled elsewhere in the company. But that doesn’t mean that Perilli won’t reach out to service providers. After all, while she’s not signing new resellers or deciding margins, Perilli’s job is still going to be demonstrating the value of Abiquo’s offering to MSPs and showing them that it’s a robust cloud management platform.
