StillSecure, Hostway Expand Cloud-based Security Options

Hostway Corp., a web hosting and cloud hosting services provider, has partnered with StillSecure, a managed network security provider, to give its customers a broader range of data and network security options. The partnership adds eight new offerings to the Hostway portfolio ranging from multi-tenant options to solutions for companies trying to meet PCI compliance standards.

In a prepared statement through which he detailed why Hostway has partnered with StillSecure, Hostway VP of Marketing Aaron Hollobaugh noted that “security is at the forefront of nearly every infrastructure discussion,” that Hostway has had with its over 600,000 customers throughout 12 countries. And when the company began searching for a partner to help solidify the security around its web and cloud hosting services StillSecure just made sense, given that its hosting offerings are already monitored by StillSecure.

So what’s actually new here? Think of this formal partnership as Hostway enhancing its security, rather than redesigning it. StillSecure President and CEO Rajat Bhargava said the agrrement will allow Hostway to “much more effectively” address network security concerns, and do so without dramatically increasing prices for customers. Hostway’s managed security services start at $39/month.

The two companies also made clear that they’re not done working together. Hostway plans to leverage StillSecure’s security services to offer public and private cloud security solutions. No exact date has been set for such a release, but Hostway has hinted that it will happen in early 2012. Ironically, StillSecure recently developed a cloud security solution and signed several partners. The offering is such a good fit with Hostway’s plans that it begs the questions of whether the two companies made an unofficial agreement some time ago.

We’ve been expecting big moves from Hostway ever since the company scored $110 million in funding in April 2010, and we expect to hear more.
