eG Enterprise V5.6 Digs Deeper Into Cloud Metrics

Singapore-based performance management solutions providers eG Innovations has launched eG Enterprise V5.6, a product that helps customers and their trusted advisers get greater metrics out of their virtual, cloud and physical IT infrastructures.

The latest version of the product contains updated and enhanced performance metrics, fast and pre-emptive problem detection and alerting, automated root-cause diagnosis and additional predictive analytics to help organizations optimize their IT environments.

eG Innovations also has a strong cloud performance management message, developing a three-pronged strategy for the cloud. Targeting the cloud consumer so cloud services end customers can track the performance of their cloud services will aid customers in knowing how their clouds are performing so they can be proactive in problem-solving. The other two target markets include cloud services providers and channel partners deploying clouds for their customers.

Cloud services providers are able to use the detailed metrics and reports as a value-add for customers, providing them both “in and out monitoring,” said eG Innovations CEO Srinivas Ramanathan. One of the key differentiators, Ramanathan told Talkin’ Cloud, is that eG Enterprise provides not only raw metrics of the outside and the inside of virtual machines, but also customizable reports that enable IT administrators to more easily make sense of all that data.

Also, eG Innovations has added a new topology graph to show additional detail of a company’s entire infrastructure.

In its expansion, eG Innovations has also just announced a partnership with management and automation vendor Egenera, which will integrate eG Enterprise into Egenera PAN Manager software. Ramanathan noted that Egenera is trying to solve the problem of finding the most appropriate place to compute power in an organization to reap the best benefits. The plan is for Egenera to use eG Enterprise to get stronger metrics to identify the best places to deploy or move virtual applications.
