DreamFactory Partner Program: Empowering VARs With SaaS?

DreamFactory Software, which offers a cloud development platform, has launched the Velocity Partner Program. The partner program will help VARs and managed services providers to transform their businesses into subscription cloud services, DreamFactory claims. The strategy sounds pretty simple:
Channel partners leverage the DreamTeam project suite on their own websites.
The suite includes a project management application, free partner portal and free trails of enterprise editions for Project & Portfolio management.
Partners, in turn, can become SaaS destinations for their customers.
Of course, we have to be a bit careful with this blog entry: Plenty of software and cloud companies promise to transform VARs and MSPs into SaaS- and cloud-savvy businesses. And scores of companies claim they can help VARs and MSPs to generate recurring cloud revenues.
But DreamFactory has our attention for a range of reasons — most notably its management team. President Eric Rubin has 20 years experience in software sales and channel development. Channel insiders know Rubin best for his time at WebEx Communications, which Cisco Systems now owns. CTO Bill Appleton is known within software development circles for his work on early AppExchange web apps.
