CTERA Networks and Scality Join Forces For Cloud DR Offering

Cloud storage specialists CTERA Networks and Scality have joined forces for a cloud storage, backup and recovery offering for cloud service providers (CSPs). It’s a team-up from two companies that, individually, have been making waves in the cloud and VAR spaces — but what can they do combined?

The answer is simple. Scality RING, the company’s platform for storage-as-a-service providers, now integrates with CTERA’s hybrid appliance solution. Deploy a CTERA appliance on the customers’ premises, and Scality’s storage-anywhere platform backs their data up and keeps it safe in the cloud.

Both Scality and CTERA seem to be in growth mode in 2011, with the former partnering up with Gladinet for SMB cloud storage, and the latter offering hybrid storage solutions through a European distributor.

Still, Scality and CTERA face plenty of competition. Axcient, for one, already offers its own on-premise storage appliance that integrates with Axcient’s cloud storage platform. Axcient recently partnered up with Hewlett-Packard, recruiting roughly 200 HP channel partners onto the Axcient hybrid cloud platform.
